I don't think this was intentional as it affected current gen phones bought after the patch itself. My Redmi note 8 pro is still plagued by the damage done by 12.5.3 (slow charging, no USB connection, no fullscreen touch gestures on 3rd party launchers, and some other quirks) but I don't think that the company deserves to be writen off completely solely because of one *horribly* botched OTA

Options. First you want to make sure that your charger and Data cable are good. Test them on another phone to make sure it is working or you can use a multimeter to test the pins to make sure it is working. If it is working properly, then check the port itself on the phone. Using a strong Iso alcohol (90% - 99%) clean out the charging port
